It has been a busy couple of days! Friday night we went to the Union at the college and had a few drinks with the Oklahoma boys on the night before they left. There was also a sweet dance floor set up on the other side of the union so we headed there and danced for a couple hours. It was a lot of fun. I met a group of kids from Vilanova. They were a lot of fun to dance with.
Saturday we got up early and took a train out of London to Windsor. We went to the Windsor castle, which is where the queen lives when she is not in London. It was the first castle I have ever been to so I may have taken a ton of pictures! Hehe I think I ended up with about 70. We didn’t get to go into the living quarters because the queen was there but we went into St. George’s Chapel which was amazing as well as looking at Princess Mary’s Doll house which was very intricate. Of course we couldn’t take pictures of either of those things. I thought about buying postcards but even the postcards didn’t do them justice!
After walking around the castle we went to eat at this great little café in the town. I had my second round of fish and chips. I never thought I would actually enjoy eating fish. We also walked through some of the small shops there. On the way back to the train we stopped at a little fudge shop and got some homemade fudge. It was German chocolate swirl. It was the perfect treat for the ride home.
When we got back we took a quick power nap, had some supper and then went out with the Vilanova group. We went out to the Zoo bar, which I had been to a few times. It was kind of a slow night so most people left at 11:30, but I stayed with the rest of the group. We stayed until midnight and then went to this great little Irish pub.
This morning we got up and went to a service at Westminster Abbey. It was pretty much a Catholic service, but had a few slight variations. The choir was amazing. It as an all male choir but they could hit some pretty high notes. Mom you would have loved it! It reminded me of listening to Handel’s Messiah with you at Christmas. The abbey was beautiful! I have no idea how they got that kind of detail into it at that time in history. The stained glass really caught my attention. I kept staring at it all through the service. It is so intricate and beautiful.
After that we came back and chilled for the day. We have some homework that we needed to read through as well as work on our 1500 word papers that are due on Wednesday. I have my first draft done and am working on citing my sources so I did pretty good today. We also had a little nap time to try to catch up from the busyness! Tonight we will be chilling some more and catching up on things like blogs, and posting things for our families. I also need to catch up on some journaling and start to get organized to leave on Thursday.
