I have been hunting on craigslist for another large dresser for about 5 months. It wasn't until John moved his things in that I realized the sooner the better. I finally found this gem in my price range. The owner tried to convince me that it was real wood, but for $50 I couldn't turn it down real wood or fake. Since it wasn't real wood, that meant staining it was not an option. So I made quick work of pulling off the gold handles and giving it a rough sand to get ready for paint and primer in one.
I did a 3 coats of combination paint and primer and added a couple coats of white inside the drawers. I was going to leave the inside of the drawers, but realized that I was going to be putting my undergarments in these drawers. They definitely needed something, so I did some white paint and drawer liners.
I played it safe and waited 5 days for the paint to fully cure and then added the knobs. It didn't take long to get it completely filled up.
I thought about leaving it as is, but I was cruising through Pinterest one night and found a dresser with branches painted on it. .I thought I would try to get the same look with vinyl wall decals. Below is what I came up with. It adds a little bit of femininity to a chunky dresser. I'm not completely sold on them, so we'll see if they stay on there.
