John goes to work, I decide to rip up floors. It seems logical, I know. I think I just need something to do when he leaves, so I start projects. Maybe its just because I'm so excited about getting the project going. Who knows! Either way, I have turned my house upside down in the last day. It started with needing to get the furniture off the floors so I could rip them out. This is what the guest bedroom turned into. There is still not a home for the couch, dining room table, TV stand and ottoman. Those will probably go in John's room when we start to lay the floor. For now they are getting shuffled around while I remove the floor.
I started with carpet because I thought it would be the most rewarding. It was GROSS! I knew it would be but ugh.... nasty. It feels so good to get all of the pet hair and allergens out of my house. It definitely makes me want to rip up all of my carpet.
I also ripped up some of the linoleum because I wanted to see what I was working with there. For some reason they didn't glue it down at all! It was incredibly easy to remove. They did staple the crap out of it around the edges, but I would take an hour of staple pulling rather than 5 hours with a putty knife trying to scrape up that floor. This is as far as I have gotten. I will probably try to tackle the rest of the linoleum today and maybe the entryway. We'll see what my hands can take. They are pretty sore after all the staple pulling yesterday. I also have one other project that I need to finish. Who knows where the day will lead!
