I am a Pinterest junkie! Recently, I saw a print that I absolutely fell in love with. It had the lyrics to a song that both John and I really enjoy. The song had a lot of meaning for us, because we have been living apart for 2 years. The lyrics that really caught our attention are 'Home is whenever I'm with you'. I hadn't really thought of putting it on the wall until I saw it on Pinterest. Yesterday I picked up a canvas and some paint and got my artsy pants on. I started by sketching out the lyrics on the canvas similar to how they were done in my inspiration print.
I had bought 3 different shades of blue to give each word a little different color. I used a plate for my artist palette. I started painting in my outlines. After each word I would squirt a little bit of a different color in my last used color and mix it up to make a slightly different shade for the next word. It wasn't quite as drastic as I had hoped (probably because the colors I chose were so similar), but it looks good nonetheless. This morning I erased the pencil lines that were sticking out from the paint and put the art in its home. It may not be perfect, but it fills the space nicely and adds a personal touch to the room.
