I had these old baskets that I had gotten when I was in high school. The baskets were still in really good shape, but the color doesn't fit anywhere in my house. I thought about painting them, but I didn't want to lose the soft quality of the fabric. This is what I started with (except I already pulled then handles off the ends).
I again used scrap fabric (you should be sensing a theme here) to complete this project. I still have leftover couch material, but I wanted to add some dimension. To do this, I used some material from the duvet cover for the ends of the baskets. The first thing I had to do was cut all the fabric to size. The ends I did tapered to fit perfectly. For the solid part of the fabric I cut it a little large so I could easily fold the edges over the ends. Here are the parts I cut:
I started with the solid fabric and wrapped it around the basket. I used hot glue to adhere the fabric to basket after wrapping it around the top to the inside of the basket frame. I folded the ends over like I was wrapping a present. I then set the ends on and glued them around the sides. This was also folded around the top as well and glued in place.
After all the gluing the finished product looked like this:
