The stairwell now matches the grey that is around the rest of the house. I mastered the skill of edging with a paintbrush taped on a broomstick to get the area above the stairs.
Here is what it looks like from the office:
The dining room does still have a gun safe in it. It also is the home for tools and anything else that gets dropped as we walk in the house.
We did upgrade our dining table a couple months ago. We feel like real big kids now with an actual dining table. The leaf for the middle is missing, so we got a better deal. We may see if a friend can make one for us if we feel like we need it at some point.
Turning around, the kitchen is also the same grey. We replaced the giant light fixture over the peninsula and put a matching one above the sink.
The laundry room is a fun purpley blue. We haven't done a ton in here, but we have big plans!
We got rid of some more stenciling by painting the garage door. It was a bit rusted, so it needed some love before winter rolls around!
Out the back door, the random cement slabs are gone, and in their place, we have our cute little garden.
Our patio hasn't changed much. We may need to replace the grill this summer, so that's not going to be too much fun!
The sun room has made easily the biggest transformation to date! It no longer has sponge painted walls and trim, or painted tile floors (Thanks Mel and Wendy!). We purchased some outdoor furniture to make it quite the comfy spot on a Saturday morning.
In the living room, we have new paint and some pictures on the wall. Every time I watch TV, I'm reminded that I need to do something with the mess of cords on the mantle. Hopefully I'll get that done by Christmas, so there is room for stockings :)
We also painted the fireplace insert so that it was much less gold. If anyone needs high temperature paint, let me know! I have tons left over!!
John is enjoying working from his fully set up office. We built him a desk out of solid core doors that we got for a steal from Habitat ReStore. We want to get his guitars on the wall too to get save some floor space.
Around the corner is the half bath. We have replaced the light fixture and the faucet. The walls are no longer stenciled and we painted the mirror as well. I added a little piece of furniture to hold towels and soap.
There are also a couple pictures up in there. I would love to (at some point) put board and batten in here, similar to what we did at Mom and Dad's.
Up the stairs, we have really only changed paint. We did add a couple wall hangings up there.
The 'craft room' has turned into a dumping ground. I have some work to do in there.
The guest bath needs a lot of work. I will just leave it at that!
The guest room on the other hand, has come along nicely. Don't mind the sweet potatoes. We have to keep them in a hot room for a few days before we store them in the basement (apparently that is common practice for storing sweet potatoes). The dresser is in place in this room and all the wall art is up. Once I get the curtains lengthened, this room will be done for now.
We still haven't figured out what to do with all our space in the master. We are working on planning that out. I like the idea of a larger bathroom and large walk in closet, but want to be sure we don't make the bed space feel tiny. More to come here for sure!
The master bath no longer has a glass shower door (thank goodness because that thing was gross!) This room will be drastically different at some point, we hope. We are still planning what that might look like.
Finally, the basement... it is a hot mess. John has a work space set up for him down there. That is his area to fiddle with things :)
Other than that, we just have stuff down there: Boxes to sort through, cabinets for the laundry room, Christmas decorations, etc.
With that, here is a shortlist of projects:
- Whitewash the fireplace
- Create a fun rustic mantle
- Install cabinets in the laundry room
- Install sink in the laundry room
- Install bench in the laundry room
- Make the kitchen cabinets darker (polystain?)
- Build a shed in the backyard
- Remove carpet under dining room
- Create a new mirror for half bath
- Of course many more things and some that will come up as we work through others!
