21 weeks!

This week, the kiddos are the length of a carrot (10.5 inches) and weigh about 3/4 pound. I think I have now fully come to terms with the idea of having twins :). It only took a couple weeks! I read the chapter in 'What to expect...' about multiples and I think some education has helped. Here are a few things I learned:

  • 3% of babies in the US are now born in sets of two, three or more
  • The number of twin births has jumped more than 50% in the recent years
  • I have none of the factors they listed for why twin births are becoming more frequent
  • The average multiples pregnancy lasts 35.5 weeks. My doctor won't let me go past 38 weeks, so this certainly shrinks the timeline
  • There is a 40% likely hood of of the twins being vertex/vertex at the time of birth. This would mean no c-section, which would be great!
I have another book in the mail specifically about having twins, so I'm sure I will learn some more fun facts.

Other than reading some fun twin facts, I have been doing well. My appetite has definitely picked up and I feel like my bump has seriously popped out this week.

I have started to get the 'fun' comments at work. Things like- "you just keep getting bigger every day" and "You won't be able to stand up straight by the end of your pregnancy". I can't wait for more of these considering I've got some time to go!
