The kids have made huge strides this week! Maggie hasn't had a tube feeding since yesterday at 2pm and Fin had his last one at 2am this morning. Maggie even pulled out her tube and we have left it out so far. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I think we are very close to heading home! They each have to take 16 bottles straight and then we are home free. I can't believe how close we are and I hope they continue to do as well as they have the last 24 hours.
Since Maggie pulled her NG out, they discontinued probiotics. It is too hard to give them orally. They will still give her vitamins and iron. Those clearly don't taste good as she took the first dose through her mouth this morning. It was kind of the same look you get when you give a kid something cold for the first time. She was not impressed!
With doing mostly bottles, they took away their pillows, 'boundries', and flattened out their beds. They are each in a normal looking crib now without all the random extras.
They did car seat checks last night. Maggie passed hers, but Fin was not happy about being in his carseat. He desated one time. He will have to do it again in a couple of days (when he is more mature ;) ). If he doesn't pass, they will send him home in a 'car bed'. It sounds like quite the contraption, but I also wish I had a car bed. I would just let John drive me around! Hooray for huge strides! I am hoping we have both of them home early next week. That's when the fun will really begin!!
